“Ever since I knew you existed I had this fantasy about my big sister and you have failed, on every occasion, to live up to that fantasy. But I still love you, whether you are capable of letting me or not.”
~
“I don’t know what it’s like to have a father but I do know what it’s like to have a sister and it’s good.”
“…As far as the psych ward goes, you were not alone. I sat by your bedside for thirty-six hours while you slept. You’re not crazy, Lexie. You’re a Grey.”

The “Dark & Twisty” child of Grey. And there are so many shades of grey in this one character, it would take an entire article to mention them all. Lets go through a quick list of her trails and tribulations: Fell in love with a married man (had to suffer through that for about two seasons), came from a broken home of a distant mother and a cowardly father, watched her mother try to kill herself, almost drowned, was nearly blown up after sticking her hand in a body cavity with a bomb in it, suffered through watching her husband get shot and nearly die, and…so much more. She’s a rubix cube of coldness, compassion, and distress. She is also a master at defense mechanisms and vague suicidal tendencies. Why? Well, it’s how she deals with her life. This was her trying her best and going through an emotional journey to become a more “Bright & Shiny” individual, which she has seemed to accomplished. At least a bit. There has been much change in her personality from season 2 to season 7. She’s “fixed” now. Still flawed as holy mess, Meredith Grey still finds herself being the main voice of the show, literally and figuratively. She is the “Big Sister” for her friends, taking them in and giving advice when they face an issue. She’s the girl that would rather deal with other’s issues than her very own. She’s very sensitive, yet she stays to herself, and would rather not have anyone know of her personal struggles. […] Derek doesn’t run away from this woman with scary issues and a damaged past, instead he embraces it. He needs it actually. These two are on different wavelengths but they are compatible like no other. Derek sees things in black & white…Meredith doesn’t. There is “Grey” everywhere. Nothing is simply right or wrong. Even Derek’s mother tells him he needs a spoonful of that. In other words, Meredith is the woman for him, for sure. […] Remaining cool and calm in the face of daily life and death situations, she may be one of the strongest women on television. Credit to Ellen Pompeo!

“Yesterday, at that baby shower, I was jealous of Callie… Because she got pregnant… without trying. And we try. I get shots, I take my temperature, I put my legs in the air and nothing. The universe says, “Screw you, Meredith.” And gives Callie a kid. And then puts Callie through a windshield. I mean, what the hell is going on? What’s the point? I mean, is there a reason for this? Because if you can think of a reason, any reason at all why the universe is so screwed up… and random and mean.. Now would be an amazingly good time to tell me because I really need some answers. “
